Traveling to another country, state or region opens my eyes. When free from the day to day busyness of normal life it seems that beauty is all around, even in the simplest scenes such as a doorway or gate. When I return to my home in Matthews North Carolina, my eyes are open to the same type of scenes here.
Since I am a California native, I return to California every year. The vineyards, Santa Barbara coastline, and the farmland of the San Joaquin are favorite painting subjects. Many of my paintings are the result of numerous trips to Provence and the Dordogne Regions of France. And Paris, of course!
My work has evolved to include the beaches of North and South Carolina, scenes from New England and the North Carolina Mountains and countryside.
